Fight Cancer Global Leadership Panel – Africa
Fight Cancer Global has assembled Global Leadership Panel members from over 45 countries so far and plan to top over 100 countries by 2020. We’d like to highlight a few Survivors, Healthcare Professionals, Non-Profit founders and Doctors from Africa who have chosen to stand with us against Cancer.
Dr. Mohammed Siddique Tayob - Middelburg, South Africa
Managing Director of MeDiNova Africa, Asia & Russia, Dr. Tayob has spearheaded Initiation of a global oncology research unit and guided company to multiple awards, including SA Premier SMME Business of the Year Award 2013. He was personally given the "Paul Harris Fellowship Award”, the highest humanitarian award by Rotary International and guided MediNova to receive the award for SA Premier SMME Business of the Year Award 2013.
Muthoni Mate – Nairobi, Kenya
Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, completed treatment and founded the NGO Cancer Café, bridging the information gap between patients/caregivers and health care providers by providing space where difficult topics are discussed in a very informal setting. She also possesses over 10 years experience in Epidemiology, including supporting the Kenya Ministry of Health in implementing comprehensive, accessible and sustainable HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment and Support services.
Dr. Ademola Adeyeye - Kwara, Nigeria
The first European Board Certified Surgical Oncologist (FEBS) from sub-Saharan Africa, Dr. Adeyeye became Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons in February 2013. He also served as European Society for Surgical Oncology (ESSO-EYSAC) Representative/National Lead for Nigeria.
Abiy Semunigus Dejene - Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
As African Region Rep, GY Highland Biotech LLC, Abiy has spearheaded Ethiopian efforts for Grounds For Health, coordinating the community based cervical cancer screening program. Currently establishing markets for new cervical cancer detection technology(FRD) in multiple African countries.
Dr. Akintunde Orunmuyi - Ibadan, Nigeria
A lecturer with University of Ibadan and Honorary Consultant with University College Hospital, Dr. Orunmuyi has pioneered Nuclear Medicine in Nigeria, successfully introducing new nuclear medicine procedures including Tc99m-UBI and Tc99m-PSMA imaging. He is a board member on Early Detection of Cancer in Nigeria (EDCAN), an NGO for use of high-technology medicine in cancer detection in Nigeria.
Dr. Shivan Chetty – Cape Town, South Africa
As R&D Director, Medical Biotechnology and Immunotherapy University of the Witwatersrand, Dr. Chetty has assisted in the establishment of the Medical Biotechnology and Immunotherapy Unit (MB&I), Africa's first immuno-oncology/immunotherapy research unit. He also founded Nautilus Bioscience, a global advisory service focused on connecting researchers to funders while working across the value chain to translate technology innovations into diagnostic and therapeutic oncology solutions.
FCG’s Partnership Initiative is focused on organizations in multiple verticals, including Hospitals, Pharmaceutical and Biomed companies, Non-Profits, Health and Wellness companies, Governments, Academic Institutions and Research Institutions. Currently represented by over 90 Partners and over 150 Global Leadership Panel members in over 45 countries, we intend to accumulate over 1000 Partners and 1000 Leadership Panel members in over 100 countries by 2020.
The FCG framework begins with Five Pillars: Community, Outreach, Education, Technology and Hope. These pillars are fully integrated with multiple comprehensive platforms to engage players with one another at all levels, as they leverage collaborative partners to create synergy, bridge gaps, implement solutions and deliver the finest cancer care.
Our Global initiative and Vision is universally impacting and transforming the Oncology space using a 360 degree approach through Global Engagement and Collaboration, aligning Patients and Survivors with All Professionals - including Hospitals, Pharmaceuticals, Biotech, Governments, Academic Institutions, Non-Profits and more - to result in ONE shared vision and responsibility, to serve all those living with Cancer.
